My stepmother has moved to a new property - has coal-effect gas fire but no MI - PIN # is: 0087-87AS57. No maker's name. Serial #: S16-N-M-T-6-S.
It has lit up OK, but would be helpful to have MI to be sure on lighting procedure etc. Flames are a bit yellow (blue at bottom and at front), which may be how they're meant to look (or down to arrangement of logs etc not getting ideal mix of air to burners?
I know some gas coal effect fires offer yellow flames as an option). RGI contacted and was meant to come and look at it today but didn't turn up - will be trying another as good idea to get it looked at - in this cold weather elderly relative would like the heat! No possibility to upload photos, but looks like standard DFE fire with pilot light on right and one control knob with spark position at 9 o'clock.

Sirroco are manufacturers with a retail operation. They are currently in liquidation, but phone still ringing: 71 If you can get hold of them they may send you MI's. A lot of 'manufacturers' by the 'engine' from Focal Point, and put on their on trims and frets. If you phone Focal point, they may know their equivalent model, and should be able to supply MI's: Tel: 30 Does your RGI know there are no books?
I won't attend a fire without MI's unless I am familiar with it, as how can you possibly set it up without details? You don't want a call out fee and no result. Znachki na bortovom kompjyutere bmv e60. Be warned, however, they are useless.
Just to give you an update - RGI didn't show up for appointment (day and time suggested by him) for a second time - no call, no explanation, so will now try another RGI. Focal Point suggest I call back next week - technical people off.not easy getting an RGI out, is it!! This one was recommended, but on further investigation, had also messed the recommender around on turning up for appointments. Suggested new year's resolution for all RGIs - 'If I can't make an appointment, I will call and let the people know!! Well done, Planet.
Glad to help. When you get hold of an RGI to check the fire, be aware that he should physically remove the fire to visually check the flue and opening. There are other mandatory checks, which I won't go into unless asked, but I am fed up with disagreeing with other RGI's on this, especially those carrying out Landlord inspections.
How can you be sure of lack of cobwebs, restrictions and that there are no extraneous openings. Make sure that he has a gas fire ticket AND that he is experienced on fires. As someone said previously there are more good guys than bad, but how do you know which is which? I don't neccessarily agree with the acidic comments about BG, but I wouldn't use them for a fire service.
